At some stage and for some reason, a bunch of people decided to get together
and have a Halloween fancy dress party. A room in a pub in Camden was found
and about 80 people showed up and some of them even dressed up in costume. I’m told
that Peter from Fame Academy (a popular television broadcast at the time) turned up
dressed like a reject from the Sgt. Pepper front cover. Luckily, disaster was
avoided as he was “escorted” from the premises by a huge man in gorilla suit.
That was the last anyone ever heard of Peter. It was a sad business.
Back to the party …costume highlights included Catwoman, Michael Myers
(Halloween films not Austin Powers), Frank Butcher from East Enders and
Edward Scissorhands. Special mention should go to the man with the enormous
pumpkin on his head.
